This Rhone varietal is crisp with a nose of green apple and flavors of grilled pineapple. A very refreshing wine and great with anything spicy. This wine is clear and bright, with a medium lemon core fading to a pale lemon-gold rim. Legs are present, and are fast and thin. On the nose, this wine is clean, with medium plus intense developing aromas. These include candied lemon peel, jasmine perfume, ripe peach, rosehips, incense, tangerine zest, and banana candy. Very fresh and complex. On the palate, this wine is dry, with medium plus intense rich body, medium integrated alcohol, medium supporting acid and medium plus intense flavors. These include ripe yellow peach, peach skin, lemon drops, rosehips, baking spice, heavy cream, banana, pineapple and other tropical fruits. The finish is long with lasting richness attributable to a balance between a viscous body and a depth of ripe fruit. This wine is drinking wonderfully right now, and will hold for another 1-2 years before flavors mute.

This is a big ripe Syrah, and will stand up to any Cabernet. Lots of lush ripe fruit, don't be fooled by the AVA. This vineyard is located on the East side of 101 and gets plenty of sun. This wine would benefit from at least another year or two in the cellar, where it will continue to develop and gain complexity.

Paso Robles - SOLD OUT
100% Paso Robles Syrah, bottled August 2009, 240 cases
Tanzer Report, November 2011,  2011 Gold Medal, Central Coast Wine Competition.

Complex aromas of tobacco leaf, vanilla and smoke. Big flavors of ancho chiles and black pepper balance out this complex new world wine with an old world sweet cream, vanilla and chalky mineral notes.  This is a wonderful wine that develops some gamey character which adds counterpoint to it's strength and freshness. "Inky ruby. Blackberry, cassis, licorice and a vanilla nuance on the pungent nose. Dense, rich, ripe and full in the mouth; well concentrated, ripely tannic and a bit foursquare but packs a serious punch. The vanilla and blackberry notes repeat on the supple, clinging finish."

Drinking very well right now. A focused and balanced wine,  easy to enjoy anytime. A cooperative effort between Thacher and Kukkula. Sherman and Kevin Jussila created this blend from two big lots. Thacher provided the Syrah, Kukkula the Grenache. A neighborly effort in deed. Enjoy!

Michelle's favorite wine in the fall lineup, this wine is so smooth and approachable even after just a couple months in bottle. Lots of fruit but lightened up a bit by the Grenache. You will love this wine. All the fruit is Thacher, unlike the last vintage which used Grenache from our neighbor, Kukkula.
